Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian blend of martial art, game, and culture created by African slaves in Brazil during the 16th Century.  Participants form a circle and take turns playing instruments, singing, and sparring in pairs in the centre of the circle.

Capoeira is renowned for its acrobatic and fluid movements, making a fantastic way to get fit as well as a highly enjoyable martial art. Due to its nature, Capoeira is often regarded as the most social and friendly of the Martial Arts, encouraging the participants.

Capoeira also makes extensive use of groundwork, as well as sweeps, kicks, and head butts. Throughout the game, a player must avoid a sweep, trip, kick, or head butt that may knock him or her on the floor.

Our Classes are taken by Mestre Pixote of The Associacao Luso-Brasileira de Capoeira
